Nintendo 3DS "Black Screen Of Death", How to fix

According to several video game sites, some owners of the 3-D gaming gadget have found that a black screen appears along with instructions to hold the power button down and hard-reset the machine.
The system indicates "An error has occurred" while playing a variety of games and has to be rebooted. We saw no such glitches in our testing, but what about you?
Super Monkey Ball, Street Fighter IV 3D, Pilotwings, Ghost Recon, Lego Star Wars, and Mii applications have all been mentioned in connection to the error.
Some users have found the issue is resolved by the reset suggested on-screen, while others have reformatted their SD cards to FAT-32 format and eliminated the problem. Others have had less luck resolving proceeding bugs, and have rearranged to returning the console to the retailer for replacement.

How to Fix
"The SD cards that came with the system were formatted wrong Reformat your SD card to FAT32 if you're getting the freezes, this should permanently fix the issue."

Where do you think GTA V will be set?

It is nearing 3 years since gtaIV was released. Imho the first stages of devolpement for the next gta was started 6 months before IV was released.(just an assumption). I have no idea where the next location is, I wouldn't mind for any location however, as long as it has a somewhat diverse environment. I the the most likely place is Vice city. However, I prayed its not 80s again. SA is also possible but I don't think London will be done again. I wish GTAV would be more like Vice City, warm sandy beaches, 80's feeling and stuff. GTAIV is kinda "dark" and everything so it gives a feeling like a war is going on.

Anyway what do you think if it would be in San Andreas because there's alot of space to play in theres a beach, a country side, a "place to gamble", and a city, and there was also alot of things to do in San Andreas, and GTA San Andreas only had 1 story line, all the other games had multiple stories like Liberty city, and vice city.

Would you not like to see something different? Well I wouldn't mind a location similar to Liberty City, Chicago for example. people think Chicago Is similar to LC/NYC.

If Rockstar are going to do Chicago for GTA V location then they need to get It right. I thought LC needed to be more dangerous In places like Hove Beach. So If Chicago Is the location for GTA V then there has to be more dangerous neighborhoods.

E3 2011: Witcher 2 On Xbox 360 Is Awesome, PS3 Players Pray For Port

PC gamers were graced with The Witcher 2 about a month ago courtesy of CD Projekt RED. Upon release, the game received numerous commendations for its graphics, storytelling, combat system, and superb RPG elements. Up until now, the game has been a PC exclusive. Now, lucky Xbox 360 owners get to enjoy the rich tale following Geralt of Rivia on their console later on this year.

Don’t fret just yet PS3 gamers. There’s still hope for you yet. We were told that Witcher 2 isn’t a Microsoft exclusive and the only reason they aren’t currently working on a Playstation version is that they like to focus on one project at a time. They did convey interest in expanding their fanbase by bringing the game to more consoles in the future however.

Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 will come out before the year ends.

Has Final Fantasy Versus XIII become the next Duke Nukem Forever?

The lack of information in the space of six years, will be very worrying for fans.

Product-Reviews writes: The lack of information in the space of six years, will be very worrying for fans. Dare we say it, but has Final Fantasy Versus rolled into development hell and become the next Duke Nukem Forever? It now looks like Square-Enix will release Final Fantasy XIII-2 before they push Versus XIII out, which again will be met with considerable frustration by patient fans.

Some of you may have forgot this, but Versus XIII was actually unveiled SIX years ago at E3 2006. Since then, we have heard very little facts about the game’s storyline, with only a few trailers released in that period of time. This is backed up by producer Yoshinori Kitase’s reluctance to commit to a release in 2011, although we can’t really criticize them too much as they never gave a release date in the first place.

Sony and Nintendo missed something big at E3

Gaming Irresponsibly's Josh Knowles writes: I’ve been giving this some thought. There has been so much talk about who won or lost E3, some say Microsoft while others say Nintendo and even others claim Sony came in last. When it comes down to it, your system of choice came in ahead and likely it’s competitor’s show was a joke. There really was a loser this year at E3 though and ironically, they do not hail from house Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft but from your own.

I am an equal opportunity gamer, I play most multiplayer games on 360 due to the social environment and I play the Playstation for almost every single player title. Nintendo is played for it’s exclusives and not much else. Something, though, that I noticed was the fact that everyone but Microsoft doesn’t support the indie dev. Now, this isn’t anything new, Sony and Nintendo have made statements before relating to the fact that they don’t plan any support for garage devs or the indie market. However, E3 is one of those times where these platforms can take the opportunity to rob one another of marketshare. For indie devs and fans, the choices are very clear, PC and 360.

Submitted by Feckles 4h ago | news Why Infinity Ward Isn't Talking About Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer

NowGamer has been speaking with Rob Bowling from Infinity Ward about Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and in particular why it hasn't shown anything of the multiplayer game yet.

Bowling explained, “It’s up and running. We play it every night but multiplayer is that thing that at this point in development, it’s changing every day. We’re constantly putting something in, trying it out, taking it out, reshuffling things for balance… it’s changing every day."

Rumour has it that Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer will be detailed in September at Gamescom.

New Nintendo Wii U has AMD Radeon

As of last night, AMD went on the record telling the world that its GPU is part of the new Nintendo gaming console. Naturally AMD didn't spill any important details about the GPU itself, but it is not a Fusion chip but rather an embedded graphics card.

The current test phase has to involve a 40 nm prototype chip, something based on the Southern Islands but the real production chip might actually be based on a shrink version in 28nm, codenamed Northern Island. Of course the chip won’t be identical to a real GPU but it will share many similarities.

PlayStation Vita: No Internal Memory Storage, Users Buy Memory Card to Fit Needs

Sony’s PlayStation Vita has a high level of graphical prowess, a stellar list of third-party development partners, and has a lovely, large enhanced resolution screen. There is plenty to love about this new handheld from Sony so far but, in a recent FAQ posting by Sony, it may have one minor flaw that will cause some to grimace in disappointment.
Do you wish Sony had included an internal memory of moderate size on the Vita or would you rather have it removed so Sony could release the handheld at the low price of $249.99/$299.99?

Retail Easy - 5 Reasons Why the Nintendo Wii U will Fail

Yesterday Nintendo gave their E3 2011 presentation, showed us all what had been under wraps as “Project Cafe” and was now being referred to as the Wii U. A funny name for a new console but we thought that about the Wii when it was first revealed. During the presentation Nintendo showed off the “interesting” new controller and HD graphics but will that be enough to pull off another gaming revolution as they did with the Wii? Well here are 5 reasons it won’t.
  1. Firstly the new controller looks like a dinner plate. its sheer size and shape make it look awkward in the hand
  2. The size and technology packed into the controller will undoubtedly make it expensive.  who is going to let their 4 year old child run round the living room swinging it above their head?
  3. Surely the next generation of consoles are going to improve graphically, and if the Wii U is only just delivering HD, it will arguably have the same problem of being a generation behind in terms of graphics.
  4. During the press conference Nintendo were keen to show off some of the third party support they have gained for the Wii U. During the press conference Nintendo were keen to show off some of the third party support they have gained for the Wii U. Third party developers are likely to bring titles such as Batman: Arkham City and Assassins Creed to the Wii U although it’s questionable whether it will be enough, Rockstar and Activision haven’t announced their support, meaning immensely popular franchises such as Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty may not make it onto the Wii U, which could further alienate hardcore gamers from Nintendo.
  5. We all know Nintendo are ingenious and are unafraid of pushing the boundaries of gaming to evermore advanced levels. However with the Wii U the question does arise over whether Nintendo have gone step too far? After all, repeating the achievement of a revolutionary gaming moment (as they did with the Wii) will be next to impossible.

E3 2011: Final Fantasy XIII-2 Longer than Predecessor; 360 Version Might Have 3 or More Discs

We all know the fact that Final Fantasy XIII is a huge game as the Xbox 360 version has three discs. With the sequel coming out in Japan by the end of the year and early next year for North America, Xbox 360 owners can expect another FF game that will have multiple disc.
From what we played today, some of the sidequests to expect are similar to what FFXIII has to offer. The L’Cieth will be there in each dungeon to give the player quests and the objectives will pretty much slay the monster. Since what we played are just a demo, it could change on the final version. However, the representative mentioned that sidequests will be a lot better and meaningful than XIII.

7 Things You Didn't Know About Wii U

How much do you really know about Wii U? There are Seven things You Didn't Know About Wii U.

1. The original idea for Wii U was simply to have "a small monitor" to check the console's status.

Miyamoto: We started from the notion of, "It would be nice if there was a small monitor of sorts other than the TV, where we could always see the status of the Wii console".

The Wii console did have the blue illumination lamp to notify new messages, but the amount of information a lamp could get across was limited...

Iwata: It was only able to say whether there was new information or not, so it had limits on what it could do.

2. Nintendo decided on a tablet controller before anyone cared about tablets. (AKA: "We're not just copying Apple."

Iwata: It's been just about three years since we started having meetings about [Wii U]. There was a lot of back and forth before reaching where we are now.

Miyamoto: Right, we did. We started from scratch many times.

Iwata: When we were first talking about this, tablet devices weren't very common. It's a classic controller with a screen.

But because people outside the company do not have an insight into our development process, when people see this for the first time in 2011 when this is revealed, they might think, "Oh, Nintendo is going to add a tablet to their console". I think that's how people may see it.

3. The way Wii U works was actually inspired by... Karaoke.

Miyamoto: In Japan, karaoke is very popular. It comes with a remote control, and on the larger screen (TV) it displays the information of the song that's currently playing, and the person who's up next is selecting the song on the screen of the remote. I think the same function exists with the new controller.

Iwata: It's very similar with how in karaoke, the information of the song that's playing now is being displayed on the bigger screen, while someone's choosing what to sing next in the palm of his or her hands.

Searching and selecting the next picture or video, reading text and then looking for detailed information is easier to do on a handheld device, and sharing that with a group of people is better suited on a big screen. So including that structure, it's critical that this environment is available to everyone from the very beginning.

4. The potential for Mario in HD makes Miyamoto's heart pound.

Miyamoto: Um... I can't really talk about [Mario and Zelda Wii U] a whole lot yet, but Nintendo is finally entering a level of HD graphics, where we're now using shaders and such. In that way, it's more... How should I put it, I think people can expect to play more immersive game experiences than before.
And with Mario... Let's see. It's actually a little heart pounding for me when I test the landings after Mario makes a jump, because the graphics are finer than ever before.

I haven't really figured out the direction for this yet, in terms of whether it should be combined with the new controller, or using it as a sub-screen like in Ocarina of Time 3D, or whether it should be playable just with the new controller. With a Mario game, there are both possibilities.

5. If your eyesight's rubbish, Wii U makes watching TV easier.

Miyamoto: What I noticed as we were making it was that when I was watching something like the website on a larger screen, I couldn't see it very well with my eyesight!

Iwata: You end up getting closer to the screen anyways because you can't see! TVs in recent years usually have a programming guide display on the screen, but with my eyesight even that's pretty hard to see.

Miyamoto: I call it the magnifying glass feature: you're able to see it in any size you like on the screen of the new controller in your hands so you can easily read what it says, while everyone's enjoying the bigger picture on the big screen.

6. Wii U marks the end of clumsy text entry on Nintendo consoles.

Iwata: There were things [with the original Wii] that weren't suited to do [on a console]. Like when trying to enter text on Wii, even though we placed a lot of effort into it, I do not think we ever reached a point where we could proudly say that it was a stress-free experience. But this time, I feel that will change greatly.

Miyamoto: Yeah. It's more convenient to have things like a software keyboard at your fingertips.

7. Wii U could feature Kinect-like facial recognition.

Iwata: It certainly seems possible from an engineering standpoint that the camera will recognise you if you position the new controller to look at you. It would be much more accessible if all you have to do is to hold it, press a button and stand on the Wii Balance Board.

Miyamoto: I think so. I hope it turns out that way.

Analysing the Wii U: What Nintendo needs to do

To compete with the 360 and the PS3 on their own turf, Nintendo are going to have to do something special with the way online multiplayer works. Friend codes, for instance, are right out.

Nintendo is offering a system that's on a par with the 360 and PS3. Nintendo hasn't competed this seriously in a long, long time. When it comes to the big-budget franchises the Wii got a couple of shoddy spin-off titles, while the Gamecube tended towards low-quality ports. Upcoming WiiU has ability to play four-player split-screen versions of modern FPS games without actually splitting the screen.Nintendo cannot afford to price themselves out of the market. The backlash to the PS3's “Five-hundred-and-ninety-nine US dollars” price point is legendary, but Sony survived, and managed to sell their system by the truckload.
While we still don't have a great deal of information on what the Wii U is really capable of (little on the processor, or the graphics chip, or even the resolution of the touch-screen on the controller) we know it's HD-capable, and we know it's at least the equivalent of the 360 and the PS3. How do we know this? The same way we know that it's going to be catering a lot more to the hardcore userbase: the announced games.

WiiU To Be Priced $600?

A very credible source has given an estimation of the value of the Nintendo WiiU, Ninento's new console.
Australia is well known to have things overpriced, but is this an indication of how much we should expect to pay for the WiiU? To put it in perspective, the 160GB PS3 costs $498 and the 250GB Xbox 360 S costs $448.
What do you think? What would be the best price for WiiU?

Sony to Sell PlayStation Vita at a Loss

'Company expects to reach hardware profitability within three years'

Sony will be incurring a loss on Vita sales. In an interview with Reuters, Sony consumer products head Kaz Hirai said that the company expects to begin making a profit on the hardware within three years. Sony also revealed at E3 press conference that PSP has shipped 70 million units.
Sony PS Vita and 3DS are surprisingly at same price, there'll be a tough challenge for both (Sony and Nintendo) to chase each other in international and local markets.
Reuters also reports that Sony Computer Entertaiment America president Jack Tretton said that while Vita will be released in Japan within the year, the release could come later in some other territories.

Sony’s E3 2011 Conference: Where was…?

Last night Sony showcased all of what we’re supposed to look forward to in the coming months for the PlayStation brand, and they truly had a solid conference. However, while there were some great items showcased, such as Uncharted 3, the PS Vita, and more, I felt like as the conference started to wrap up last night, some things were missing, or left out...

·        Where was David Jaffe to talk about how cool Twisted Metal is looking?
·        Where was anyone from Rockstar to talk about either Agent?
·        There has been much There has been much rumor-mill chat about Grand Theft Auto V breaking at E3, where was that? How long will Rockstar make us wait until the next version of their magnum opus?
·        Team ICO had a brief mention with the Ico & Shadow of The Colossus remasters, but where was The Last Guardian?
·        Where was the exclusive blockbuster that people were all supposed to stand up and say OH MY GOD SONY WINS!?
