Sony and Nintendo missed something big at E3

Gaming Irresponsibly's Josh Knowles writes: I’ve been giving this some thought. There has been so much talk about who won or lost E3, some say Microsoft while others say Nintendo and even others claim Sony came in last. When it comes down to it, your system of choice came in ahead and likely it’s competitor’s show was a joke. There really was a loser this year at E3 though and ironically, they do not hail from house Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft but from your own.

I am an equal opportunity gamer, I play most multiplayer games on 360 due to the social environment and I play the Playstation for almost every single player title. Nintendo is played for it’s exclusives and not much else. Something, though, that I noticed was the fact that everyone but Microsoft doesn’t support the indie dev. Now, this isn’t anything new, Sony and Nintendo have made statements before relating to the fact that they don’t plan any support for garage devs or the indie market. However, E3 is one of those times where these platforms can take the opportunity to rob one another of marketshare. For indie devs and fans, the choices are very clear, PC and 360.

E3 Hopes & Fears, Key time for Nintendo comes

Now this is the time for Nintendo to showoff what games they will released around big events.
"It’s not long to go now until E3. In the past few years, it’s safe to say that Nintendo fans haven’t exactly had a great show to watch. However, we’re hopeful that this year things will make a welcome change. Granted, the take off for the 3DS hasn’t been as explosive as previously expected, but it’s almost a given that this year, Nintendo will have an ace or two up their sleeves."

E311: What to Expect from Nintendo

SideQuesting.com - A complete guide for what to expect from Nintendo at E3 2011. From Wii, DS, and 3DS, to Project Cafe, Skyward Sword, and Mario, the guide captures known properties and rumors.
This is an absolutely crucial year for Nintendo.  The company has four big platforms that they’ll be pushing, and they need to last until 2012 when the Project Cafe is released.  On top of that, Microsoft and Sony will (next year) begin the reveals of their console successors, so whatever Cafe is it had better be great enough to last through those eventual announcements.  The 3DS needs to be successful this year, so core and casual games will be announced in a fury.  Nintendo needs us to fall back in love with the portable, less it die on the vine early in its life.  And then there’s Zelda.  I’m really hoping Skyward Sword will be an incredible game, since we still know absolutely nothing about it.
