Sony to Sell PlayStation Vita at a Loss

'Company expects to reach hardware profitability within three years'

Sony will be incurring a loss on Vita sales. In an interview with Reuters, Sony consumer products head Kaz Hirai said that the company expects to begin making a profit on the hardware within three years. Sony also revealed at E3 press conference that PSP has shipped 70 million units.
Sony PS Vita and 3DS are surprisingly at same price, there'll be a tough challenge for both (Sony and Nintendo) to chase each other in international and local markets.
Reuters also reports that Sony Computer Entertaiment America president Jack Tretton said that while Vita will be released in Japan within the year, the release could come later in some other territories.

Sony E3 Press Conference: Exclusives, Biggest Rumours and Expected Announcements

GamingBolt.com previews the Sony E3 Press Conference stating the biggest rumors, expected announcements and exclusives that gamers can expect. There are also some unexpected predictions from Sony's conference.

GB: "Sony is in a mess. 2011, so far, has been nothing short of a nightmare for them.Their online service, PlayStation Network recently got hacked, and was down for a MONTH. Nobody could play any games online, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, all PSN users’ credit card information was at risk. When PSN finally did manage to come back up, the PS Store was facing problems, and it’s only now, a week after PSN recovered, that the Store is back up.
So it’s kind of obvious that Sony have to have a stellar E3 conference this year so that they can win back the confidence of their fans and followers. Fortunately, they look all set to deliver one of their best conferences in recent memory- they’re set to shows the lineup of the NGP, the price, release date and final name of their new handheld system, no...

E3 2011 NGP Predictions

NGP Gamer presents out list of down to Earth predictions of what Sony's Press Conference at E3 this year will reveal about the new portable's release, price, features and games.
With E3 about to kick off in earnest tomorrow, I thought I might as well take the time to lay out my own expectations and predictions, at least as they relate to the Sony NGP. These aren’t rumors or the result of insider information, merely my own educated guesswork. I’m publishing this ahead of tomorrow’s Sony press conference to keep myself honest.

An expensive month for PlayStation Network has come PlayStation users are reporting their problem till now. Gamers are facing downloading issues.
The PSN Welcome Back Program kicked off Tomorrow  but not without a hitch. Many gamers were reporting problems when trying to redeem their free games. The European PlayStation blog has acknowledged some gamers are having issues downloading their games. They recommend logging into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List. From here choose " “PlayStation Network Promotions” and select "PS3 Free Games" or "PSP Free Games." Click "Select Content." This, in theory, will take you back to PlayStation Store to choose your games again.

Additional PSN Plus Freebies

Hopefully by now all PS3 owners have jumped on to the fixed PSN to download their two freebies. But as I’m sure you are aware, in addition to the two free games there is a free 30 day subscription to Playstation Plus to be taken advantage of. While any ‘free’ games you download through this service can only be played while you are signed up to Playstation Plus, that is 30 days (more than enough) to get your fill of a couple of different titles, maybe rack up some more trophies, before you fully get into your two selected Welcome Back Package free games.

E3 2011: Uncharted NGP graphics on par with PS3

Product-Reviews: We have a treat for gaming fans right before E3 2011 now, as Sony has just posted a brand new video feature on the upcoming Uncharted title for the Sony NGP or PSP2, or PS Vita as it may end up being called.

First things first and we can confirm that the title has also been given it’s proper name, and that is Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Just to recap, the game will take place before the events of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune but it’s understood that this is not a prequel, but rather a brand new storyline in the Uncharted universe.

The game will make use of dual analogue sticks, touchscreen support and also motion controls thanks to the new NGP hardware. Golden Abyss is being developed by Sony Bend, with original developers Naughty Dog overlooking the project. Sadly there’s no release date yet, but you can look forward to seeing much more info on the game at Sony’s E3 press conference next week.

Uncharted Golden Abyss Delivers a Home Console Experience

Kotaku: Uncharted Golden Abyss is the best reason, but certainly not the only one, to buy Sony's still-codenamed Next Generation Portable.
Uncharted Golden Abyss certainly isn't the sort of first-person shooter experience that will completely stress test the abilities of the NGP's dual thumbsticks, that will have to wait for aBattlefield or Call of Duty, but it requires enough shooting and moving to prove what gamers have been saying for years: Shooters just don't work with a single thumbstick.

Sincere Sony spills PSPgo regrets

Yoshida: "I could spend 30 minutes talking about what was wrong with it"

The console's launch in November 2009 was met with respectable reviews, but the price - just $50 less than the PS3 at the time - was widely criticised. The system struggled to sell, despite a relaunch last May that saw the hardware bundled with 10 free games in the UK.
