E3 2011: Witcher 2 On Xbox 360 Is Awesome, PS3 Players Pray For Port

PC gamers were graced with The Witcher 2 about a month ago courtesy of CD Projekt RED. Upon release, the game received numerous commendations for its graphics, storytelling, combat system, and superb RPG elements. Up until now, the game has been a PC exclusive. Now, lucky Xbox 360 owners get to enjoy the rich tale following Geralt of Rivia on their console later on this year.

Don’t fret just yet PS3 gamers. There’s still hope for you yet. We were told that Witcher 2 isn’t a Microsoft exclusive and the only reason they aren’t currently working on a Playstation version is that they like to focus on one project at a time. They did convey interest in expanding their fanbase by bringing the game to more consoles in the future however.

Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 will come out before the year ends.

Sony and Nintendo missed something big at E3

Gaming Irresponsibly's Josh Knowles writes: I’ve been giving this some thought. There has been so much talk about who won or lost E3, some say Microsoft while others say Nintendo and even others claim Sony came in last. When it comes down to it, your system of choice came in ahead and likely it’s competitor’s show was a joke. There really was a loser this year at E3 though and ironically, they do not hail from house Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft but from your own.

I am an equal opportunity gamer, I play most multiplayer games on 360 due to the social environment and I play the Playstation for almost every single player title. Nintendo is played for it’s exclusives and not much else. Something, though, that I noticed was the fact that everyone but Microsoft doesn’t support the indie dev. Now, this isn’t anything new, Sony and Nintendo have made statements before relating to the fact that they don’t plan any support for garage devs or the indie market. However, E3 is one of those times where these platforms can take the opportunity to rob one another of marketshare. For indie devs and fans, the choices are very clear, PC and 360.

Submitted by Feckles 4h ago | news Why Infinity Ward Isn't Talking About Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer

NowGamer has been speaking with Rob Bowling from Infinity Ward about Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and in particular why it hasn't shown anything of the multiplayer game yet.

Bowling explained, “It’s up and running. We play it every night but multiplayer is that thing that at this point in development, it’s changing every day. We’re constantly putting something in, trying it out, taking it out, reshuffling things for balance… it’s changing every day."

Rumour has it that Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer will be detailed in September at Gamescom.

E3 2011: Final Fantasy XIII-2 Longer than Predecessor; 360 Version Might Have 3 or More Discs

We all know the fact that Final Fantasy XIII is a huge game as the Xbox 360 version has three discs. With the sequel coming out in Japan by the end of the year and early next year for North America, Xbox 360 owners can expect another FF game that will have multiple disc.
From what we played today, some of the sidequests to expect are similar to what FFXIII has to offer. The L’Cieth will be there in each dungeon to give the player quests and the objectives will pretty much slay the monster. Since what we played are just a demo, it could change on the final version. However, the representative mentioned that sidequests will be a lot better and meaningful than XIII.

E3 2011: Microsoft Press Conference Summary

A comprehensive summary on the entire Microsoft E3 conference is provided by Mediakick.

One of the most anticipated conferences of this year’s E3 is Microsoft’s Global Media Briefing. Surprises of surprises, they opened with a gameplay footage of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The scale was there and it felt like a Call of Duty game. Don Mattrick then makes an appearance to a huge applause. He thanks everyone who is watching for making last year the biggest year in history for Xbox. He then briefs what we will see in this conference.

Crystal Dynamic’s Darrel Gallagher, then briefs us through a demo of Tomb Raider, which from the moment they started playing it looks absolutely fantastic! Lara had to use her survival instincts to survive immense torture.

Peter Moore (President of EA Sports) then comes out. 4 EA Sports titles will feature Kinect. Tiger Woods, Madden and FIFA and one unannounced title. Other EA games will feature Kinect, including the Sims Pets.

Dr Ray Myska from Bioware then comes out to tell us about Mass Effect 3 and drops the bombshell that it will feature Kinect and brings out a fellow developer to demonstrate this.

A Ghost Recon: Future Soldier trailer then plays, featuring much updated visual presentation. Yves Guilliem confirms that Kinect will feature in the game, and a few other titles they have coming out soon.
Mac Whitten from Xbox Live then comes on stage to a whooping from the audience. His vision is to eliminate the remote control and enable voice control menu options. From the looks of things, this is yet another dashboard. Many new partners have been made.

President of the UFC, Dana White then comes on stage to unveil a new trailer for UFC Xbox Live, which features predictions being enabled for fights.

Microsoft’s Studios Phil Spencer then appears to say the rest of the conference will feature exclusive titles to Xbox 360, starting with Gears of War 3. That War Pigs trailer then plays featuring some more explosions and a gritty edge. Cliff Bleszinski then comes on stage to a huge applause.
The much rumoured Halo: Combat Evolved remake was then demonstrated, now known as Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary Edition, featuring new visuals, Multiplayer Maps, Co-Op and a remastered campaign Nov 15th 2011.

Forza Motorsport 4 is then shown to the press, with many community features, monthly expansions, world tour modes and Kinect Headscanning technology.

Peter Molyneux then comes out on stage to discuss Fable: The Journey, together with a beautiful looking demo, that mentions that Heroes are no longer born but must be made.

Phil Spencer then comes back on stage to announce a huge bombshell. Minecraft is coming to Xbox 360 Kinect exclusively. He also announces a partnership with Disney in the form of Kinect Disneyland Adventures.

It does seem a little disappoint that very few hardcore titles are announced that don’t feature Kinect, but we have seen some things that Kinect can do that haven’t seen before. The amount of small children on stage does make the whole direction of Microsoft seem a little towards the family rather than the gamer, and the Xbox Live TV feature may change how we visualise entertainment. But as a gaming conference for traditional gamers there was very little here for them. What we did see however looks pretty good.

Mortal Kombat – CFD! Review

Sage Knox from CFD takes a look at the revival of classic Fighting Franchise.
The success of Mortal Kombat ultimately lies within the fighting mechanics. Instead of relying on the overly complicated combinations and insane frame counting of other fighting games, a player can survive the story mode and hold his own against other average players by learning a few key combos and attacks for each character. As with any skill-based game, the more time someone spends to learn a specific character’s tendencies and moves, the greater proficiency they’ll have against other players.

Games.On.Net 2 Minute Review: Hunted: The Demon's Forge (Xbox 360)

One of the biigger video games blog games.on.net says: Hunted: The Demon’s Forge does exactly what it sets out to do, which is to capture the spirit of action-packed dungeon crawls in a way all the reference sheets and miniature orc figurines in the world can't. Combat is well-paced, visceral, and unrelenting. Ranged and melee are equally enjoyable, although a tendency of the melee AI to stand in your line of fire may give sword-and-board hounds an advantage.
Graphically the game is let down by a somewhat generic fantasy design, which a hint of South American aesthetic can't rescue. On an HD monitor some minor jaggies showed up in high contrast situations, but a really laudable number of detailed textures made for some nice eye candy. Some strange lighting decisions - character models glow strangely in the deepest darkest depths - detract, but the animations are in general pretty delightful.

Griffin, Clayton Carmine and Jace Playable at E3

Rod Fergusson announces new Gears of War 3 characters to be playable at E3.
Personally, I am most excited to play as Griffin. Griffin, as you may know, is voiced by rapper/ actor Ice T who is not new to video game voice-work. Save and Quit will make sure we get our hands on these characters during E3 and let you know what we think. Who knows? Maybe we can sneak a video out of there.

G4TV - Saints Row: The Third Story & Gameplay Preview

What type of genre should be given to Saint Row, I don't know what you people are thinking about this game may be my thinking will be much different from that of yours but this game reminds me the memories of PROTOTYPES. I don't know why but this game is too far from the reality as the PROTOTYPE was. Could you tell me the name of any game like this. However, We are waiting, when we'll convert Humans into Cannonballs.
G4TV - Dildo bat? Check. A car capable of turning people into human cannonballs? Check. Engaging in a shootout while riding a helicopter-hoisted bank vault? Double check. The only game that could ever feature these elements? You guessed it: THQ’s latest open-world absurdity factory, aka Saints Row: The Third. Volition’s follow up to the top-to-bottom bananas Saints Row 2 aims to push the sophomoric, blithely bizarre formula established in the first two titles to its absolute limits, and from what we saw at THQ’s recent pre-E3 showcase, there is no doubt the developers are well on track to do it.

Rumor: Kinect Tracking Receiving Major Updates

InsideKinect's Glen Says: Despite being an incredibly impressive piece of hardware, Kinect is nothing without its software, and the tracking experienced at launch is certainly not the end of the road in terms of capabilities. There was even disparity between the performance of first party launch software, with Kinect Sports more responsive than Kinect Adventures by about 100ms.

Naturally, we expect developers will have got to grips with Kinect to a greater degree come the unveiling of the second wave of games at E3 next week, and a source at Eurogamer goes into quite some detail about what we can expect from Kinect software improvements for voice and facial recognition as well as full body skeletal tracking.
